Paarden Heerlijkheid

Horse riding in its purest form
For horse lovers, the estate Mariënwaerdt in ‘De Betuwe’area has very much to offer. A beautiful route of max. 14 kilometers long curls its way over more than 2200 acres along estates, fields, ponds, woods and tranquil water meadows. The route varies depending the season and the condition of the soil. Here you can ride your horse in its purest form – the greatest way to discover the breathtaking beauty of  Mariënwaerdt.

The route starts and also ends at the “Paarden Heerlijkheid”, the centre for horses, horse riders and teamsters. There are large and bright boxes, paddocks, a hotwater rinsing and washing area plus, the dream of every horse, expansive fields of tender ‘Betuwe’ grass. There is an outside arena of 60x25 meters, a large and heated saddle room with lockers, a comfortable reception room, changing rooms with bathrooms. There is ample parking space and an area to hose off a carriage. Professional support for you and your horse is also available.

History
‘Paardenheerlijkheid’ is situated at a lower part of the estate of Mariënwaerdt that was founded as a monastery in the 12th century. The mass of water used to be a problem until late in the 20th century. In 1954 a new house, called ‘De Woltersbouwing’ was built and in 1975 a new cowshed was erected which now is transformed into a horse shed. The old house has also been renovated and will be used as a reception room.
